Before we focus on Cautious personalities, here is a reminder of the four personality styles:
This week we complete our series with the Cautious Personality.
Cautious personalities make up around 30% of the population.
They like structure, accuracy and detail.
Whilst Direct personalities want the short version, Cautious personalities usually want more information before making a decision.
How to spot them
- They ask detailed questions.
- They speak more slowly.
- They are well organised.
- They like facts and evidence.
- They rarely make rushed decisions.
Words that work well
- "Let me explain the process."
- "Here's how it works."
- "I'll send the details."
- "Let's review the information together."
Words to avoid
- Vague statements.
- Missing information.
- Emotional exaggeration.
- "Trust me."
Cautious personalities trust facts, evidence and process.
Give them those things and you'll build confidence quickly.
Humour
I went to buy some camouflage trousers. I couldn't find any.
My doctor told me I had to stop acting like a flamingo. So I had to put my foot down.
I once had a job as a professional cricket ball thrower. I was bowled over when I got it.
The future, the present and the past walked into a bar. Things got a little tense.
I asked my wife if I was the only one she'd been with. She said, "Yes, all the others were nines and tens."
