Making Follow-Ups Fun

Turn follow-ups into opportunities (and make them fun)

Follow-ups don’t have to be a chore. With the right mindset, they can be the most enjoyable part of prospecting.

How to make follow-ups enjoyable

  1. Inject humour: “I was about to give up on reaching you, but then I remembered persistence is my middle name.”
  2. Add value: Share an article, tip, or insight related to their interests.
  3. Celebrate small wins: Each response is a step forward, even if it’s just “No, thanks.”

Story: A fun follow-up that worked

I once followed up with a client by sending a funny meme related to their industry. It made them laugh, and we scheduled a meeting the next day.

Humour

My follow-up emails are so entertaining that they’ve been nominated for a comedy award.

I told a prospect, “Following up is my cardio.” They replied, “That’s a stretch.”

Why do I love follow-ups? Because every “no” is just a step closer to my coffee break.
