Focus on the person, not the pitch
When we focus on helping rather than selling, prospects feel it. Ask yourself:
“What does this person need right now?” “How can I provide value even if they don’t buy today?”
Try these quick fixes
Switch up your opening lines to avoid sounding repetitive. Revisit old leads—they may be ready now. Focus on referrals. Happy clients love connecting you with others.
Story: The one that got away
I once lost a prospect because I rushed into the pitch. Later, I reached out with a simple, “How can I help?” They responded positively, and we built a lasting relationship.
 
Humour
My prospecting plateau lasted so long, it turned into a mesa.
I told a prospect I’d help them climb the ladder of success. They said, “Does it come with a parachute?”
