What the hell happened…

At a time when more books on weight loss are sold than almost any other genre, I am reminded of something bestselling author Chuck Palahniuk once said:

“The goal is not to live forever. The goal is to create something that will.”

That line sticks.

Looking back

When we look back at the end of any year, and mentally delete the chaos of COVID, the pattern is always the same.

Some people did the work.

They made things happen.

They got results.

Some people watched things happen.

And some people asked,

“What the hell happened?”

Clear examples

One person decided to learn a new skill and use it.

Another meant to but never got around to it.

One person faced their fears and had uncomfortable conversations.

Another avoided them and stayed where they were.

One person changed their daily habits.

Another kept saying, “I will start next month.”

The year ahead

This coming year, someone will choose to let go of the past, rewire the present and rewrite the future.

This coming year, someone will turn pain into power, fear into progress and confusion into clarity.

This coming year, someone will trust themselves, take bigger risks and become so good they cannot be ignored.

The real question

The question is not,

“Can you?”

It is,

“Will you?”

Choose every day

Make every day this year a choose day.

Choose action.

Choose learning.

Choose growth.

We can.

Humour

An old guy was working out at the gym when he spotted a beautiful young woman walk in. He asked the trainer,

“What machine should I use to impress her?”

The trainer looked him up and down and said,

“I would recommend the cashpoint in the lobby.”

An unemployed youth took his clapped out old car to the garage and asked what was wrong with it.

After a few minutes, the mechanic came out shaking his head and said,

“Piston broke.”

“I know,” said the youth,

“But what is wrong with the car?”
