Self Talk or Self Torture?

During our lifetime, we spend more time speaking to ourselves than we do to any other person.

Harvard psychologist Shawn Achor says that the most important conversations we ever have are the ones that we have with ourselves, primarily because the relationship we have with ourselves influences the relationships that we have with others.

Achor's research for his bestselling book "Before Happiness" reveals that we often speak to ourselves worse than we speak to our worst enemy.

Achor asks, "Ever loved someone so much that you would do anything for them? Well, how about making that someone yourself?"

My advice?

Given its universal importance, slap a mental preservation order on your mind, such that no changes can be made to its pristine, unadulterated nature without the consent of your soul.

And remember - any conversation that costs you your peace of mind is too expensive.

Humour

As the coffin was being lowered into the ground at the Parking Officer's funeral, a muffled voice from inside screamed, "I'm not dead, I'm not dead. Let me out!". The vicar smiled, leaned forward and muttered, "Too late pal. I've already done the paperwork."

As a new employee I had to take a Health and Safety course, but I failed the exam. One of the questions was, "In the event of a fire, what steps would you take?". Apparently "Big ones" was the wrong answer.
