Then, See What Happens

Ever feel unmotivated to start? If we do, that means we are human.

How do we kickstart ourselves? Use the “then, see what happens” hack.

Instead of committing forever, we will give ourselves a time limit. Then, this won’t be such an intimidating decision. Examples?

  • I will read three pages of a book every day for a week, and then see what happens.
  • I will go to the gym for 10 days, and then see what happens.
  • I will make a prospecting phone call every day for a week, and then see what happens.
  • I will take these vitamins for a month, and then see what happens.

It is easier for our minds to make a minor decision than a big decision. The good news is this. Once we start, we have momentum in the right direction.

We Cannot Learn New Skills Without Experience

  • Can we learn to ride a bicycle by reading a book?
  • Can we learn to swim by having a good attitude?
  • Do we want an airline pilot who has never flown before, but has a vision board at home?

We study new skills, but then learn the new skills by testing and making small failures along the way. Yes, experience is the best teacher. But, of course, we want to make sure we have learned what to do first.

Let’s learn something new, and then test it out. Being a doer accelerates are learning.
