I am a better "giver" than a "closer."

When I started my Business, my viewpoint was, "Convince people to buy or join." Every encounter with a prospect was a "win/lose", or "live or die" situation. I hated this.

Not only did I not enjoy it, but I also lost most of the time. This definitely would not be sustainable over a long career.

But what did I enjoy? What made me feel great?

Giving.

My new viewpoint when presenting to prospects? "I will gift my prospects with one more option for their lives."

This means my prospects can keep their lives the same and continue struggling with their problems. Or they can choose the wonderful option I just gifted to them.

Every day became fun. I spent my time looking for new people to gift my option of solving their business problems of getting more clients. I couldn't think of anything more fun to do.

And what happened? I gave my option to more people, and a higher percentage joined me than when I was in "convince mode."

Examples of what worked best for me. Here are two of my favourite option closes.

  • So what is going to be easier for you?" continue buying expensive low level leads or learn exactly what to say word for word to get more clients.
  • "Does it make sense to have key skills to improve our business so that we can grow, instead of on going negative rejection for the rest of our lives?"

These phrases made me feel great. I was gifting one more option for my prospects’ lives. No rejection or bad feelings for me. I allowed my prospects to choose the great option I presented, or if they preferred, they could keep their problems and their lives the same.

Humour

  • I tried to start up a chicken dating agency but failed, it was a struggle to make hens meet
