Which one are we?

Two young men graduate from school.

The first young man goes to work in his career, and then finally retires when he is old.

The other young man starts his career, but every day learns one new thing. In a few years, his knowledge, skill level, and abilities command a larger salary. He earns more money and has the option to retire earlier.

It isn’t rocket science.

We either learn and grow or stay the same … which is actually falling behind.

Here is something fun. Start every day with excitement by saying to ourselves, "What new thing will I learn today?"

Make our lives fun to live.

Try these two sentences get instant decisions.

My mentor Tom told me about a guy called Pete who sells healthy coffee, but I am sure you can figure out a way to modify this for your products and services.

He says ………

"If you knew absolutely certain that my coffee or tea could make you lose 10 pounds … you’d get involved, wouldn’t you?

"Then we should talk."

Now, there are so many cool things going on in these two sentences. New Professionals with limited skills will have no idea of the skills used here, but they don’t have to. In the beginning, they can just repeat the sentences to get results.

In time, the new Professionals will learn new skills, and then, all of a sudden, they will slap their heads and say, "Oh, now I know what is going on in these two sentences. Awesome!"

This is what I shared with a coach earlier, of course he has to have the same level of skills, but here is the conversation.

"If you knew absolutely certain that my skills would double your income in less time … you’d get involved, wouldn’t you?

"Then we should talk."

What to say to our prospects?

We listen. We hear our prospects’ problems. Now, what would be a high-level way to respond?

"You know, it is okay to keep our problems and live with them."

We create rapport. We agreed with our prospects. But how might they respond?

Most prospects will conform to the "principle of reaction." They will disagree with what we said. Expect a reply something like this:

"No. It is not okay to keep this problem. I need to fix this problem."

We listen quietly and allow our prospects to sell themselves.

When we don’t need motivation. Huh?

What is the best-kept secret to a successful career?

"If we find a way to build our business that is rejection-free, and totally fun, then our brains have motivation every day."

Sounds good in theory, but the reality is more difficult. Why? Because this requires a personalized solution, not a one-size-fits-all approach.
