How To Get More Clients By Admitting You Don’t Know All The Answers

You know how most people get caught up worrying about looking like they know everything? Even if they don’t actually know everything or have all the answers?

It’s called Imposter Syndrome.

Some people have realised that, by admitting we don’t have all the information or all the answers, it gives us a vulnerability which helps people connect with us more. By being honest, people are more likely to trust you.

There has never been a product in the history of man that has been perfect, nor a person in existence who knew everything. By admitting your human limits upfront, you gain credibility in the eyes of your prospects. You are somebody who can be trusted and who tells the truth.

What most people don’t realise is, that by highlighting what you don’t know, you actually bring more attention and appreciation to what you DO KNOW.

When i speak at conferences I’ll often say that i don’t have all the answers. I say it with honesty, sincerity and open body language.

However, what I do know is that I have some tried and tested techniques. Techniques that I've used over the last 20 years, which have demonstrated success in the majority of cases.

You see how much more credible that sounds? This is one of the reasons why my clients trust me.

So don’t be frightened to let people know that you don’t know everything, or don’t have an answer for something they ask you.

When the situation arises where you don’t have the answer, tell the person asking that it is a great question and that you will find out from somebody who knows.

At least this way you are still the source of information, providing further value to your clients.

A Bit Of Humour For You

A Manager is walking through his warehouse, touching base with his team and checking on what they have been doing for the day.

As he turns a corner, he see’s one of his team sitting down and playing with his phone, not doing much of anything.

Infuriated he marches up to his employee and booms, “What do you think you are doing here?”

The employee casually glances up at his manager, whose eyes seem like they are about to pop right out of his head.

“I’m executing your command,” says the employee nonchalantly.

The manager spits back, “But I haven't told you to do anything!”

The employee simply shrugged his shoulders and replied, “And so, I do nothing.”
